Yes it'll be wet, yes it'll be gloomy, but O week starts tomorrow and MCAT will be there. Thanks to those who signed up to help spread the word of cycling. In case you're unsure, here's a list of what to discuss with people who show up to the stall:
- this Facebook group and the Facebook page
- Monday velo sessions (especially for beginners)
- Friday Beach Rd rides
- Tour de France nights and other cycling race nights
- Uni Games
- Triathlon Uni Champs - particularly important because it's 19 March, so early in semester, and in Melbourne now
- Monash Human Power trials
- keep an eye out for AGM in April
Our stall's right next to Run Monash, so feel free to refer people to them for all their running needs, and hopefully they'll be nice enough to do the same for those who are more multisport-inclined.
If you've rostered yourself for the morning, show up 15-30min early (so 10:30-10:45) to find the stall and set up a computer to show off the Facebook group (there'll be a power point). If anyone wants to bring a wind trainer and bike to act as a conversation starter, that's worked well in previous years too.
Unfortunately I'll be stuck at Casey Hospital so won't be able to be at the stall, but I trust you all to say good things about the group.
TL;DR: direct people to the Facebook group, hope for warmer weather later in the week. ... See MoreSee Less

I have bought myself a second hand set of SRAM red 22 as a thesis submission gift. I now have a full set of Shimano 105 10-speed I do not need, the quality is:
Shifter, brakes and Mechs: 2008 Models, getting old, but no major problems. I am still able to adjust them to shift reasonably nice.
Cassette (12-28): Bought to train for 3 peaks last year, I have only ridden lightly since then. Condition is reasonable, still has a fair bit of life left.
Compact (50-34): Black, also bought before 3 peaks, condition is good except for a scratch from the derailleur where I forgot to put a spacer on with my bottom bracket.
Chain: KMC with quick link, brand new, has done <100km.
No Bottom Bracket.
I can probably find 2x Gear and 2x Brake cables if needed.
I'd like to get rid of it quickly, and I am not looking to part it. If you are interested PM me. I can send some pictures in the morning if there is interest. Looking for $250 ONO. Otherwise I will Ebay it when I get to Sydney. ... See MoreSee Less

Hi all. Recently decided to train for a 70.3 and found this group. I'm a fourth year education student at Berwick.
I have run several marathons and ultra marathons over the past 10 years, so am fairly experienced with endurance events. My swimming is terrible, so I need to work at that. Injuries have kept me off the bike for some time, but that seems to be ok now.
Which brings me to my question. My bike was set up by the shop I bought it at 7 years ago, but obviously it's pretty rough and I should get a professional fit done. I can't afford for a bike shop to do it, but I can claim it on insurance if it's done by a physio. Does anyone know a good physio who does bike fits?
Thanks. ... See MoreSee Less
